What is Safe4Life?

Personal crime can happen to anyone; age, gender, and social-economic status is irrelevant. Kids are bullied at school, a woman is grabbed on the street, someone finds themselves in an abusive relationship, a child is touched by a relative.

Did you know that you can develop a Safety Plan for yourself and your loved ones, which can help you prepare and avoid these situations before they occur. Even children as young as 3-years-old can learn these skills to help them stay safe.

The Experience

Safe4Life Personal Safety Training Programs are taught within the context of “Experiential Learning.” Participants get to feel and experience the empowerment that comes from knowing they can fend off or escape a dangerous situation.

It is one thing to wonder how you would react to a dangerous encounter; it is another thing to KNOW how you would react. Through hands-on experience in a simulated attack, you will leave these classes knowing, with confidence, that you can implement your Safety Plan.

This class and this philosophy are of ABSOLUTE importance to all people who live and function in our communities. Real life easy to follow skills and strategies are taught and reinforced to ensure fewer victims and more empowered citizens on our streets.”

FAQ

Who are the instructors?

Safe4Life instructors are professional self defense and personal safety trainers. All have been trained to the Safe4Life curriculum and many have some affiliation, either past or current, to the Calgary Police Service. When our instructors are facilitating our classes, they are contractors to Safe4Life.

How long are the classes?

Classes vary in length from 60 minute Lunch & Learn presentations to 4 hour self defense programs with the option for a conflict management discussion.

What type of martial arts do you teach?

Our training is not martial arts based. Participants are instructed to tune into their environment and remove themselves should they sense risk. If they do get in a physical altercation, participants are shown strategies to quickly and effectively strike the attacker in ways they can escape.

Where are the classes held?

Our team comes to your location; an office boardroom, school gymnasium, community room, private homes or backyards. We ask our customers to choose a location that suits their needs best and we bring our instructors and equipment to you.

Do you offer customized classes?

Yes, we do! Tell us what you want! Any of our programs can be customized to meet your individual needs and requests. Small groups, a shortened timeframe, a longer timeframe, a unique celebration, or help to work through a trauma can all be accommodated…. just ask!

Can I participate if I have a physical injury or disability?

Although we support all attendees to engage in the physical parts of the class, we encourage participants to care for their own ability and health needs. Much benefit is gained from the conversations and observations in the classroom environment.
